• PoR PLAZA: The leaf collector piping coming out of the pool was completed on 7/19. Drip line irrigation sleeves began install in segment 1 of the plaza on 7/19. Underground lighting conduit from the hand holes to the tree boxes began on 7/22 and was completed on 7/28 in segment 1 of the plaza. The planting soil in the plaza was completed on July 30th. Upcoming activities for the plaza segment 1 slab include filter fabric, stone, top layer of filter fabric, vapor barrier, rebar, and slab pour early August. Segment 2 and 3 activities will begin in the month of August following the same sequence as segment 1.
  • POOL of REMEMBRANCE: Upcoming activities will be the removal of the outer 6 rows of pavers, topping slab install, resetting of the pavers, and grout installation to complete the activity.
  • MURAL WALL: Conduit runs and electrical hand hole install occurred between 7/12-7/28. Backfill around the hand holes was completed on 7/30. The next activity will be to seed and straw the area for temporary stabilization, this is scheduled to occur 1st week of August.
  • UN CURB: The mow strip for the UN curb activities completed in July include install compacted aggregate, dowels to existing concrete foundation, rebar, formed and poured on 7/26.
  • SITE WORK (outside PoR Plaza): Storm water piping continued around the exterior of the plaza in July and will continue into August. Leaf collector structures and ductile iron piping for the leaf collectors continued in July as well, at month’s end 3 of the 5 structures were installed, the remaining are scheduled to be completed in August. The north retaining wall sidewalk area was graded between 7/26-7/27. Formwork and rebar for the slab in this area started on 7/29 and was completed on 7/30. In August concrete will be poured for the pier cap slab and cheek walls, this slab and walls sit in the same footprint as the sidewalk that will connect the Memorial to Ash Road.
  • FIELD OF SERVICE: The demolition of the existing lighting and conduit for the statues has been completed in July. Installation of conduit for the new light bollards was completed on 7/12. Sub-drainage pipe was uncovered, inspected, and video-ed from 7/12-7/23. Since the sub-drainage piping was in good condition, there is no need to replace in bulk, only small sections that were damaged/clogged . Formwork for the bollard foundations were completed on 7/21. Underground electrical inspections occurred on 7/9 and 7/28, which allowed new soil installation to begin. Irrigation mains were completed by 7/23, and the drip tubing will be installed following new Junipers installation. New planting soils began on 7/26, with the completion scheduled for 1st week of August. The removal of all existing soils was completed by air spading & vacuum truck on 7/30. The upcoming activities for August include the mock-up of a statue for approval and inking/waxing of all statues and install of filter fabric over the new planting soil for stabilization and to prevent weed growth until the Junipers can be installed.
